Impact on Jungle Occupations
On a trip to Ecuador in 2004, I operated on many patients that had cataracts. We were on the border of Ecuador and Columbia where many people worked in the jungle. I remember one gentleman who was a bit younger (likely mid 50's) that I just happened to take a picture of on postop day #1. He seemed fairly happy to have had surgery.
